Professional Background

Atty. James Michael A. Uaminal is an Associate and a member of the Firm’s Litigation Management Group. His practice area involves various litigation matters in commercial, civil and criminal cases.

 

James has extensive experience in the Legislative Branch of government, spanning a total of six (6) years at the House of Representatives and the Senate. Prior to joining the Firm, he worked as a director at the office of a Senator of the Republic of the Philippines, heading its legislative and political affairs working groups. He provided technical assistance and input in the drafting of various legislative measures, committee reports, and the appropriations bills that eventually became the yearly national budget. As legislative staff, he was involved in the crafting of laws such as Republic Act No. 111888 (Special Protection of Children in Situations of Armed Conflict), Republic Act No. 11765 (Financial Products and Services Consumer Protection Act), Republic Act No. 11576 (Expanding the Jurisdiction of First Level Courts), Republic Act No. 11523 (Financial Institutions Strategic Transfer Act), and Republic Act No. 11650 (Inclusive Education Act), among others.

 

James was admitted to the Philippine Bar with exemplary performance in 2022. He obtained his Juris Doctor degree from the University of the Philippines in 2020. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science degree, cum laude, from the University of Philippines Cebu in 2014.
