For his exemplary service in the judiciary branch, recently retired Supreme Court Chief Justice Antonio “Tony” Carpio was honoured with a unique testimonial cocktail event by the V&A Law Firm. Unlike traditional testimonials where paeans are showered upon the honouree, this one was turned into a roast titled “Tribute to a Patriot.” Held at the V&A’s Rainmakers Lounge, the event featured high-powered “roasters” like former Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales, Senator Franklin Drilon, and Carpio’s close friend and a pillar of “The Firm,” Atty. Pancho Villaraza. Among the distinguished guests were former Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario, Cesar and Joy Virata, and retired SC Chief Justice Artemio Panganiban. The widely acclaimed UP Singing Ambassadors regaled the guests with their award-winning repertoire.
