The Bureau of Internal Revenue (“BIR”) has extended the deadline for the filing and payment of the 2019 Annual Income Tax Returns (“AITR”) to 15 May 2020. Under Revenue Memorandum Circular (“RMC”) No. 28-2020 dated 18 March 2020, the BIR is giving individuals and corporate taxpayers an additional month beyond the 15 April 2020 deadline to file their AITRs and pay their Annual Income Taxes, without the imposition of penalties to taxpayers. Taxpayers may file and pay the corresponding taxes due on the AITRs to any authorized agent banks nearest to the taxpayer or to any Revenue Collection Officer under the Revenue District Office. The BIR also appealed to taxpayers who are able to file and pay before the extended deadline to help the government raise funds to address and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
