Despite the Enhanced Community Quarantine (“ECQ”) throughout the Philippines, Villaraza & Angangco celebrated its 40 years of growth and achievements in the various fields of legal practice through the invaluable contributions of the people composing it. 

 

The Firm celebrated its 40th Anniversary last 1 May 2020 with a thanksgiving mass presided by Fr. Cris Magbitang SDB and attended virtually by the Firm’s partners, associates, and non-legal staff. The mass homily was centered on the Italian word “Quaranta” which is the root word of quarantine from the Venetian practice of holding ships at sea for 40 days, and how 40 years could signal the end of a journey and a beginning of a new one.

 

The Firm was founded in 1980 under the leadership of young lawyers including retired Supreme Court Justice Antonio T. Carpio and F. Arthur L. Villaraza, student leaders and top graduates from the University of the Philippines.
