Villaraza & Angangco is pleased to announce the appointment of Franchette M. Acosta as Co-Managing Partner, effective 01 January 2023. Franchette is currently also serving as V&A’s Head of Corporate & Commercial Law Department. 

 

Franchette is recognized as a leading lawyer by various legal publications such as Chambers & Partners, the Legal500 and IFLR1000. She was also recognized by the Asia Business Law Journal as one of the Philippines’ Top 100 Lawyers, and by the In-House Community as a Commended External Counsel.

 

Franchette’s well-rounded proficiency in commercial law enables her to guide clients in foreign direct investments market entry or expansion, finance and project development, the rapidly growing fields of competition and data protection laws, and government contracts. She has represented clients across various industries such as telecommunications, financial services, real estate, power/energy, mining, and manufacturing.  She has also successfully acted as lead counsel for borrowers in syndicated loan agreements and project financing, and for underwriters in initial public offerings in various global exchanges.

 

Franchette graduated cum laude and was the valedictorian of Class 1998 of the University of the Philippines College of Law. She ranked 3rd in the 1998 Philippine bar exams, and received her Masters of Law from New York University on full scholarship in 2003. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in Business Economics from the University of the Philippines School of Economics in 1994, graduating magna cum laude.
