OFFICIAL STATEMENT

It is with deepest sadness that we announce the untimely demise of our beloved Founder, Chairman, and CEO, Atty. F. Arthur “Pancho” L. Villaraza, who left us on September 14, 2024. His passing marks a profound loss not only for Villaraza & Angangco but also for its clients and friends. For over four decades, Pancho was a beacon of excellence, leadership, and integrity, shaping our firm into the renowned institution it is today. Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.

He was a man of profound influence, both as a disruptor who fearlessly pushed the boundaries of legal precedent and compromise and as a guiding force who inspired not only lawyers but also the non-legal staff of the Firm. He was a true professional who always placed his clients’ interests first. His sound and effective legal strategies gave clients assurance, and his unwavering commitment to their success built a reputation for excellence that will long endure. His passion for nurturing talent was unmatched, and his guidance has had a profound impact on countless lives.

Despite his larger-than-life presence in the legal world, Pancho was a deeply private man when it came to his family. He truly valued the love and support of his now-passed wife and true love, Sally, his children, Stephanie, Angelique, Aaron, and Abigail, his grandchildren, and extended family, always keeping them close to his heart while maintaining a balance between his public and personal life.

We are also announcing the appointment of Atty. Raoul R. Angangco as the new Chairman and CEO of Villaraza & Angangco. The Partners of the Firm remain steadfast in their commitment to carrying out the legacy and vision that Pancho worked so tirelessly to build. We are confident that under the leadership of Atty. Angangco, the Firm will continue to thrive, uphold the same high standards of legal excellence that have defined us for nearly 45 years, and fulfill its leadership role in the legal profession and Philippine society.

We will miss Pancho but his legacy will continue to inspire us all, and we are dedicated to carrying his vision forward as the Firm embarks on this next chapter.
