Al is the Head of the Labor and Employment Department. He previously served as the Firmโs Managing Partner and as Head of the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department.
Aside from his unparalleled leadership as Managing Partner from 2016 to 2022 of one of the most successful firms in the country, Al is lauded for his sharp, analytical mind and penchant for crafting precedent-setting legal strategies that solve even the most intricate and complex problems faced by the Firmโs clientele.
As the head of the Labor and Employment Department, he brings decades of experience representing both local and multinational clients in complex labor and employment matters. With more than 30 years of experience in litigation, dispute resolution, labor, and commercial law, Al has successfully defended billion-dollar businesses in various labor and corporate suits in and out of the country.
He also advises large domestic and multinational companies on various aspects of Philippine employment law, such as significant issues connected with large-scale corporate restructuring, retrenchment, negotiations with labor organizations, and the formulation and implementation of far-reaching company policies.
His ingenious approach to solving legal problems is backed by over three decades of solid litigation experience appearing before various courts, including the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court. He has likewise represented clients before key administrative bodies, including the National Labor Relations Commission and the Department of Migrant Workers. He has also appeared before the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, representing a foreign client in a cross-border commercial dispute involving a USD1.5 billion claim that has had an impact on infrastructure development in the country.
