Creating the Legacy

V&A Law was founded in 1980 by a group of young, driven lawyers, including retired Supreme Court Justice Antonio T. Carpio and F. Arthur L. Villaraza, then student leaders and top graduates of the University of the Philippines. From the outset, the Firm was built on the belief that legal practice demands intellectual rigor, courage, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. 

 Guided by its founding partners’ vision, V&A Law grew into one of the country’s most respected full-service law firms, earning a reputation for precise, impactful legal advocacy across complex commercial matters, landmark disputes, and issues of national importance. 

 At its core, the Firm’s legacy is shaped by its people, lawyers who view the law as both profession and public trust, and who approach every engagement with discipline, independence, and purpose, continuing to define V&A Law’s identity as the Firm.

V&A Law Today

In 2023, V&A Law entered a new chapter with Sylvette Y. Tankiang as the new Managing Partner of the Firm, the first female managing partner since the Firm’s establishment in 1980.

In September 2024, Raoul R. Angangco was appointed as the Chairman and CEO of V&A Law with Juanito L. Sañosa, Jr. as the Co-Managing Partner. This generational transition reinforced the Firm’s commitment to continuity, adaptability, and forward-looking leadership.
