On 28 April 2023, Villaraza and Angangco Law (“V&A Law”) Partner Rashel Ann Pomoy and Associate Caleb L. Lauredo served as speakers for the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP)’s webinar entitled “Understanding Labor Laws: Know your Rights as a Worker.”
During the webinar, Pomoy highlighted existing research on how employers’ compliance with labor standards can strengthen industrial relations, increase investments, and stimulate economic activity. She also identified the forms of unfair labor practices and outlined how both employers and employees can deal with and seek redress from violations of the Labor Code. Meanwhile, Lauredo provided an overview of various Philippine laws and regulations that safeguard the rights of employees in the workplace.
The other speakers during the event included REED Elsevier HR and Iloilo Site Lead Katrina Ledesma, AppleOne Group, Inc. HR Director Macario Balali, and Smartsourcing CSR and Communications Manager Sarah Henderson.
During the open forum moderated by V&A Law Partner Kristin Charisse Siao, Pomoy and Lauredo answered questions regarding how employees can ensure that their rights under present laws can be upheld by their employers.
